Lesson #2
Don't Fear the Questions It seems rather ironic in this Google age we live in that there seems to be more questions than ever and they are questions filled with fear or offense that anyone would dare question what we do. Jesus had a way of asking questions; for some it filled them with fear, for others it was offense. Yet for some the questions he asked were life transforming, setting lives on fire with incredible passion and redirecting futures.
Real Warriors never fear the questions in life. They face them head on with eyes to see that beyond the questions there is life and hope and a future for those who believe. |

The question for Lesson #1:
Should Christians plead with God in prayer? Imagine the urgency of communication a 25 Charlie (Radio Operator) would have on the field of battle when the enemy is close to overrunning their position. In such situations you will never hear him say, “I think we got this…we’re glad to know support is there if we need you.” What you will hear is a desperate man who knows their only hope is a barrage of heavy air support and artillery bombardment. He will plead with great urgency for immediate support. He will give a quick assessment of the battlefield, state the position of the enemy and wait for the first round. Seeing that the first burst is within range he will yell “FIRE FOR EFFECT!” When Elijah called for fire he prayed, “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” |
A Warrior pleads for support on the battlefield and so should every Christian who truly believes that God is our only hope. We should make haste to plead our case and we should have every right to do so. A. T. Pierson who wrote about the incredible prayer life of George Mueller said, “This method of holy argument-- ordering our cause before God, as an advocate would plead before a judge-- is not only almost a lost art, but to many it actually seems almost puerile (childishly silly). And yet it is abundantly taught and exemplified in Scripture. Abraham in his plea for Sodom is the first great example of it. Moses excelled in this art, in many crises interceding in behalf of the people with consummate skill, marshalling arguments as a general-in-chief marshals battalions. What a zeal and jealousy for God! It is probable that if we had fuller records we should find that all pleaders with God, like Noah, Job, Samuel, David, Daniel, Jeremiah, Paul, and James, have used the same method.”
The father of a sick child once said to Jesus, “But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” Jesus responded, “If you can?” It was a rhetorical response – the point being, “Everything is possible for one who believes.” So if everything is possible then it is possible (even expected) that we should lay out our case before God in the same manner that we would to our attorney (Advocate) if we are in great trouble or the way a son would to his father who loves him deeply.
The bottom line – The Warrior pleads with God. He or she prays “Fire for Effect” prayers in full expectation that it will annihilate the attack of the enemy and bring the victory that is sought through such fervent communication.

WHAT IS WARRIOR CHAPEL?
It's an opportunity once a month to have an inspirational Bible Study followed by physical exercise of your choosing. That's it plain and simple. Bible study is 20 minutes by Chaplain Kenneth Koon and will meet in various locations allowing individuals to follow up with exercise. It may be 22 minutes of push-ups for those preparing for next year's Courageous Challenge or it might be walking with a prayer partner or throwing a football in the park. It is what you want it to be. The goal being simply to come together for the purpose of training the body, mind and spirit. Anyone that wants to participate is welcome. |
What Warrior Chapel is not
Warrior Chapel is not a church, doesn't replace church and is not seeking to become a church. There are plenty of churches of various flavors. Pick one and stick with it. We will not meet when churches are meeting, unless of course you meet for church on Saturday mornings.
I guess you could say that Warrior Chapel comes out of my background as a military chaplain having served more than 32,000 Soldiers and their families. When I interact with them I invite them to attend Chapel (Not Church). The Chapel service is made up many indviduals from a variety of backgrounds. I haven't polled any of our attendees, but based on what I have seen most attend because they know that they want God in their lives and need the strength and hope that sometimes seems to be missing. Then there are some who understand the meaning of iron sharpening iron. What better way could be exemplified than by working on the total being. I have held to a belief all my life that has faired me well - Move the Body and You Move the Mind. Bible study with physical exercise is a win-win.
You may be wondering what my particular beliefs are. I know I would certainly want to know that before I made an effort to get involved in any type of event where beliefs are a major factor. So here are my beliefs:
First I believe exercise is a great way to relieve stress and stregthen our mind and emotions. I believe being a round others who are seeking to make a difference in life is important. As for the theology I believe the Bible is God's inspired revelation of His infinite wisdom to us finite humanbeings and that it is a book about relationships with God and with each other. I believe there is only one living and true God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of humans from sin. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who gives us the strengthen to live a life that pleases Him and benefits others and ourselves. I believe every person of every race possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. I believe salvation is a free gift to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Finally I believe that God's name is Yahweh, because that's what the Bible says. "The LORD is a warrior; Yahweh is his name!" Exodus 15:3
So there you have it. If you would be interested in strengthening the body for the Courageous Challenge and strengthening the spirit for the battle of life touch base with me. Let's get this party started. Contact Ken
