Bouncing back from difficultly can be a challenge, but it is not an impossibility. Regardless of experience, resilience is a personal trait that can be developed with practice. Thoughts, beliefs, and actions play an important part in the process, especially when traumatic events occur. AFM's Resilience Institute helps individuals and families increase resilience by:

The rally cry of AFM's Resilience Institute is Move the Body Move the Mind! AFM is committed to building resilience and restoring hope for America's troops and veterans through personal intervention for those in crisis; and programs that focus on physcial, mental, and spiritual resilience. AFM is making a difference with a team that has worked with more than 32,000 service members and trained more than 7000 care givers in the skills of personal intervention. We are serving on the home front where the battle continues to rage for many veterans. AFM has conducted more than 500 successful suicide interventions and many of the thousands we have trained are also reporting incredible stories of successful interventions.

"I am personally thankful to Chaplain Koon for his leadership and strength of character. He is a great mentor to those who are looking for that internal strength and are able to lean on him until they can stand on their own."

What is your greatest challenge?
It was just as recent as 1973 when the first research on resilience was published. Since that time corporations and the US military have spent millions training their employees in resilience. The question remains - Does it work? More than 100 research studies have been conducted about resilience. The conclusion is that when it comes to building resilience, One-to-One Training is most effective. Our experience at AFM is in working with individuals who felt that all resilience was gone. After more than 500 successful suicide interventions we would concur with the findings of these studies. One-to-One is the best method for increasing personal resilience. AFM Resilience Coaches help America's veterans who feel like they are running down the wrong baseline or they are not even in the game anymore because they just got their pink slip from Uncle Sam or may be struggling with PTSD or moral injury. Some are battling with the issues that are common to many people…divorce, unemployment, hopelessness or even a desire to die. AFM Resilience Coaches help veterans:
