"TO NURTURE THE LIVING, CARE FOR THE WOUNDED, AND HONOR THE DEAD"
Memorial DayThe last Monday of May in the United States is a national holiday to remember those who died while serving in America's armed forces. The National Moment of Remembrance Act established in 2000 calls on American citizens to set aside one minute at 3PM on Memorial Day to pause and pay our respects to the men and women who died in service to our country.
As you enjoy your 3 day weekend please join us in honoring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. |
Memorial NightIs a rally cry to acknowledge on the Sunday night prior to Memorial Day that many who faithfully served in America's Armed Forces died not while in service, but as a result of having served. They did not die in the desert or the jungle, but on the battlefield of personal despair from the invisible wounds of war.
Join us in turning the tide of suicide within the veteran community and let's build a culture of health for those who made it home. Together We Can Turn the Tide on Suicide

More than 8,000 veterans die each year from suicide; a rate 200 to 300% higher than the general public.

In Memory
Twice Dead
Henry Ward Beecher wrote, "Those that die for a good cause are redeemed from death. They hover as a cloud of witnesses over the nation; they speak louder than we can speak to inspire the people..." If those who died in battle serving our country could speak to us today from across that great abyss what would they say? They would say please honor the memory of my battle buddy who died on that battlefield here at home; though he seemed to have made it home. Though he was welcomed back with open arms, somehow on that battlefield by my side we both died that day. For him it was his first death, for me it was my last. Please honor his memory just as you do mine, because I died only once in battle but my battle buddy is twice dead. Honor his memory even as you honor mine by seeing to it that no more die alone on the home front. Stand with them; don't let them die. Turn the tide on suicide.
